Dr. Scruggs is a native of Oklahoma and graduate of Clear Lake High School in Houston, TX. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology-PreMedicine from Xavier University of Louisiana and her Medical Degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. She completed Internal Medicine residency in the heart of the world's largest medical complex at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She is Board-Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Scruggs has practiced Internal Medicine since 2005 in various roles: as primary care physician, hospital attending, and assistant professor. She has been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for providing high-quality, evidence-based care in the areas of Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, and Stroke. She has also been voted "Best Internal Medicine Physician" of Fort Bend County in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Her professional affiliations include: American College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, and American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
She is wife to Cardiologist, Dr. Corey Scruggs, and mother of two children. In her spare time, she enjoys service to the community via memberships in Mary Susan Moore Medical Society, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, and Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
